Toyota Venza Reviews: Performance
Edmunds: "All Venzas use a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors (one dedicated to charging) to send power through a continuously variable automatic transmission to its front wheels. A single rear motor also provides power to the rear wheels when you need extra traction. It's a similar setup to the RAV4 Hybrid and Highlander Hybrid SUVs. Total output is 219 horsepower. This might not seem like much given that the Passport's V6 cranks out 280 hp, for example, but we've found acceleration to be perfectly adequate. Plus, it's smooth, quiet and gets you a Toyota-estimated 39 MPG in combined city/highway driving." Kelley Blue Book: "The 216 horsepower combined output is solid. The instant boost of acceleration from the electric motors feels stouter than the numbers indicate. The AWD is an on-demand system that primarily operates in front-drive and is there to add more traction when needed when the pavement gets slippery, or you get really aggressive with the accelerator. The hybrid operates smoothly and seamlessly, transitioning back and forth between electric and gasoline power."
Toyota Venza Reviews: Interior
U.S. News: "There's a lot to like about the Venza's interior. It's stylish and well-built, and many of the materials wouldn't look out of place in a Lexus (Toyota's luxury brand)." Motortrend: "From the driver's seat, the Venza's positioning of aspirational luxury instead of sportiness becomes clear. Our loaded Limited model had soft-touch leather-like surfaces all over the center console, with attractive woodlike trim at its base where you'll place your phone. The SofTex seats feel soft and just as premium as any real leather in this price range (the Limited starts at $40,920, but the seats are available on the less expensive XLE in a package). Where the Venza surprises and delights is the brown piping on the doors and dash of XLE and Limited models. It may be hard to the touch, but the contrast piping in our black/brown interior gave the Venza an upscale appeal."
