Fall Car Care Tips from Westbrook Toyota
October 06 2023 - Westbrook Toyota
Westbrook Toyota Westbrook CT

It's easy to get caught up in the daily hustle and bustle - driving to work, taking the kids to school, picking up groceries. Next thing you know, the weeks go by and you find yourself wondering "Where did Summer go?" As Fall sets in and the temperatures start to cool down, this is the perfect time to run a couple of checks on your vehicle.

Whether you're still driving the 'same old car' you've had for the past five years or a brand new vehicle, it's important to develop a habit of seasonal safety checks on your vehicle. Read on - Westbrook Toyota covers five things you need to check on your vehicle this Fall season.

Top 5 Fall Car Maintenance Tips

There are five vehicle checks we recommend making every Fall in order to keep you and your vehicle safe on Westbrook roads.

1. Brakes

As the roads potentially get more slick, you definitely want to make sure that your brakes are in good working condition. Pay close attention when you press on your brake pedals - high-pitched or grinding noises could indicate you have a problem and you should get your brakes inspected as soon as possible.

2. Tires

On the topic of slick road conditions, you'll want to also make sure that your tires have enough tread to grip the road well. Ensure your tire pressure is at the right level, as well.

3. Lights

The sun is going down earlier in the evening now, so ensuring good visibility at dusk and at night is crucial. Take a look at your taillights, headlights, brake lights, fog lights, and hi-beams.

4. Battery

The last thing you want to happen (other than an accident, of course) is to find yourself stranded in a parking lot at night. Do your battery connections show signs of debris and/or corrosion? If so, it might be time to consider a new battery.

5. Heater, Defrosters, & Wiper Blades

Falling water, leaves and temperatures - all three things that can impact your drive. You'll want to make sure your windshield is clear and your wiper blades are in good condition. Check each of your temperature controls - better to do so now before temperatures really get uncomfortable.
